When making this latest video, we were amazed at the results that Being Water’s One2flush Water Saving Fill Valve delivered. With the final water level in the bowl now reduced, our upgraded dual-flush toilet is operating perfectly and we’re saving even more water.

In the Half Flush mode, this new fill valve is using 79% less water.

In the full flush mode, this new fill valve is using 85% less water.

That’s water that was simply being flushed down the drain for years, a complete waste!

It’s sad to think how many new dual-flush toilets are being sold in the market that are using an outdated approach to fill valves. Those toilets may indeed be dual-flush, but they sure can waste a lot of water during the bowl refill process. Why wait for a toilet repair, you can do this upgrade now. One way to look at it: If you are “waiting”…you are “wasting”. Being Water also markets this fill valve in a bonus pack for some great $ savings. Seeing is believing, here’s the full video showing how Being Water’s One2flush Water Saving Fill Valve was installed:

Some behind the scenes today. We’ve finally hit on the right formula for a partner program to help get the word out about our water saving One2flush products and especially the One2flush Dual Flush Toilet Kit. This is the ultimate water-saver (in my opinion) for anyone in need of toilet repair.

Yes: You Can Buy It At The Store:

The first side of the equation has been to leverage traditional channels of distribution… and that has totally clicked (no pun) for us. Our team now has relationships and commitments with national retailers who will be stocking the products in the next 60 days. We’re talking big names, the ones that distribute in every town across America…you know which hardware stores and building centers we’re talking about.

The Internet Side of The Equation

We’ve had the products for sale on this web site and our sister site at Being Water…and Internet sales have steadily been increasing. But the drought condition is increasing and since we don’t have the brand recognition of say Coke, we decided to take it up several notches… So the goal here was to leverage our value proposition (what the product is/does for the homeowner and saving water) … and the need for Green Internet Retailers to add good products on their site.

Also, we wanted to manage the whole thing in the cloud, have the back office tie-in to popular ERP packages, fulfillment centers and ongoing marketing systems…etc. We found it, trialed/tested 3 systems and landed on one that is perfect. Launched it recently and then on Monday of this week, we activated the 2-level Partner Program in search of Affiliates…. and then sent out a few email messages to friends and family.

Profit With Purpose!

Five days in…the results are fantastic as word is spreading quickly. While anyone can become an Affiliate, we’re primarily targeting green Internet retailers. Is this a business? Yes, for us and our partners. But it supports directly the passion we share about preserving our planet’s most precious commodity - water! We like to call it “Profit With Purpose”.

Okay, if you want to look into our viral marketing approach to spreading water consciousness…and make some money too (yes directly and passively via your own sub-affiliates..our system does all that!)… check out our Partner Program pages by clicking on Partner Program in the menu at the top of this page….or you can visit the same information at our sister site “Being Water” by clicking here.

Let’s save some water!

This morning I read an article about how the rebate funds are drying up in Southern California. This of course is due to the runaway success of these programs in the first place. You can read the article here, millions are being given out…. $165 for toilets…$135 for washer…even $.30/foot for turf. Let’s look at the $165 rebate that’s being given for the purchase of water saving toilets….it’s a good deal, right? When you consider the fact that dual-flush toilets can cost as high as $400 plus installation (depending on the brand/type)…the homeowner is still paying out significant cash just to participate good water conservation.

The Benefits Stack Up

So… if a rebate were handed out that was in the neighborhood of $20-$30 for a dual-flush conversion kit (like the One2flush)… then….

Benefit #1: The homeowner can convert their existing toilet to a dual-flush operation for a fraction of the cost of buying a new dual-flush toilet…
Benefit #2: The homeowner would realize a HUGE amount of water savings with dual-flush technology….payback on the investment is extremely fast considering the low cost up front with something like the One2flush.
Benefit #3: The water agency wins…. they literally get more bang for the rebate buck handed out… barriers to entry are reduced and everyone can participate!!
Benefit #4: The planet wins since we end up saving even more of our most precious commodity…water!

Self-Responsibility

What about the other type of rebate program? The type that the homeowner can fund, administer (and benefit from) all by themselves without standing in a “rebate pre-approval-soup-line” (see article above). I’m talking about adopting a water conservation mindset and doing what’s right without a rebate from the water agency in the first place. (Note: If a rebate is offered in your community, take advantage of it obviously!).

Do-It-Yourself

Installing a dual-flush conversion kit on your toilet is easily accomplished in less than 30 minutes (see video here of yours truly)….the thing costs $39.95…and the water savings will drive your bill down. But there’s more.. what happens when you buy a new toilet? Let’s add to our benefits list…

Benefit #5: Installing a dual-flush conversion kit on your toilet eliminates foreign porcelain from flooding into the U.S. in the form of new toilets, thereby reducing the amount of older (American made) toilets hitting our landfills! That’s right, all those toilets have to go somewhere right. For a photo of a toilets in a landfill, click here. Maybe this is a form of of “toilet-terrorism” ?

Benefit #6: Made In The U.S.A. means something right now. The One2flush is 100% made and manufactured in Michigan by Americans. Do you really want to fund supply of foreign-made porcelain into the U.S. right now? Ever?

Rebates are nice and we Americans are used to being paid to do things. Adopting the right mindset in the first place can foster some clear thinking about the right thing to do.

I’m fortunate enough to be living in a community where there are no HOA imposed restrictions and rules. You know those rules, you can only paint with “these” colors and you have to maintain your yard to “this” specification….including keeping your lawn watered and green. Deed restrictions certainly appear to be at odds with the current drought situation.
In Florida, George Acorn wonders how homeowner associations can enforce standards on turfgrass in year three of the worst drought anybody can remember. An interesting article from the St. Petersburg Times, you can read it here.

One deed restriction I thoroughly support is the idea that if a developer is allowed to move forward with a subdivision, there should be a strategy to harvest rainwater from all the rooftops. It’s an idea that needs to take root in the U.S. quickly either by individual homeowners, or communities working together.

Do the math…a $50 rebate against the cost of a dual-flush toilet ranging in price from $179 to $500…(not including installation) is not that compelling to homeowners short of the fact that they are facing a higher water bill or mandatory rationing. But they do it, since it’s the “right” thing to do and they are banking on a payback with with the reduced water bill. And let’s not forget the negative impact on the environment with all those toilets headed for the landfill.

The next logical step: Achieve dual-flush water savings for less than $45 in total and keep your old toilet by simply installing a dual-flush toilet kit into your existing toilet. Why say goodbye to an old friend? Click here for more info on dual-flush toilet kits.

California is no stranger to drought, though collective memory tends to recede in wet years. During the droughts of 1976-1977 and 1987-1992, Californians supported conservation measures. And those helped lower the burden on water supplies that comes with new housing developments.

I live in Northern California and have seen how much rainwater literally flows right out to sea from our creeks and streams. The ground soaks up what it can, and the rest? Channeled out to sea. Creeks and streams are vital habitats that certainly need to be preserved, but a thoughtful approach to the collection of rainwater by both homeowner and cities/government needs to be examined. Rainwater harvesting is something everyone needs to wake up to.

Australia certainly is in the midst of a huge drought situation and South Australian Opposition leader Martin Hamilton Smith says, “We’re in the midst of our worst drought in history and look what’s happening today and over the weekend, millions of litres of water flushing out into the gulf..” Read the entire article here from ABC news.
